Albuminuria: Introduction

Albuminuria refers to the presence of readily detectable amounts of serum protein, especially serum albumin but also serum globulin and others, in the urine. Albuminuria is the common sign of renal impairment (nephritic syndrome and other kidney disorders); it also occurs in fever, malignant hypertension, and in healthy people after vigorous exercise among other conditions.
